Speaking at Auburn University about entrepreneurship!

Hi friend! Welcome! I am always honored when you come across these posts. I recently had the absolute honor and privilege of speaking at my alma mater, Auburn University, on the topic of entrepreneurship. I USUALLY speak on confidence building, styling, etiquette and sorority recruitment prep-so this was a different one for me!

I am writing this blog post to the current college girl who is trying to figure it all out! Fun Fact! NOBODY has it all figured out! We are all in this together & I share these words as an encouragement to you!

Okay y’all YES I WAS NERVOUS. I typically do not get nervous for speaking engagements, but something about this one was different. I oftentimes don’t feel qualified to speak on business principles because I don’t have my masters in business like some people do! I often times struggle with feeling like I am too young to be a CEO and lead a team of amazing women that work for me. I have self doubt! BUT-I have a hope and faith that is an anchor for my soul despite the insecurities I sometimes feel.

SO SISTER-If you are reading this thinking “she has it all figured out” I am here to tell you:

1.) I do not!

2.) I was nervous & sweating in my tweed dress!

3.) You will be asked to do things you don’t feel “ready” for yet, but sometimes saying ‘YES” anyways leads to tremendous interpersonal growth.

The audience was college girls that are studying business and specifically entrepreneurship. I wanted to leave the girls in the room with personal stories and inspiring moments to build their confidence.

Fun fact! I started my company in 2019 when “recruitment coaching” did not exist quite yet. People thought I was WEIRD & CRAZY for starting a concept that wasn’t on the market-but The Lord told me to build a resource that would be a blessing to younger girls so I tried my best to do just that. I stayed in my lane and built my company even when others didn’t “get it!”

Take away here-keep going! Keep climbing! Keep showing up!

My husband came to Auburn to support me!!! He is truly the kindest person I know. We met at Auburn senior year & dated for two years before getting engaged & married!! We explored campus before my speaking engagement and y’all you have to check out The Laurel Hotel rooftop-it’s amazing!

In my presentation to the business students, I stressed the importance of surrounding yourself with encouraging people when starting a company. I had a SHORT LIST (very short) list of people who believed in the business I was building.

To a college girl reading this-NEVER SETTLE when it comes to dating and marriage. The right person will be the one who believes in you even when you don’t believe in yourself! NEVER SETTLE when it comes to who you surround and spend your time with. Put yourself around positive people and be the ray of sunshine to someone else. It’s worth it!

Here is the entrance to where girls “run home” on bid day! HOW FUN!!!! I never ever dreamed I would start a company when I myself walked this same concourse day after day as an Auburn student. I told the girls at the engagement to START BEFORE YOU ARE READY! Because well, you are never going to be fully ready!! Entrepreneurship is a wild ride. It’s hard, fun, exciting, time consuming and rewarding all at once. When I first started RR, I would bring my laptop on bachelorette trips & work before everyone woke up. I was COMMITTED and DEDICATED to follow the Lord’s calling on my life. I did not “feel ready” but I was willing to work hard!!!
